Deacon Dan Lupo, Ph.D.

A Chicago native, Deacon Dan attended Our Lady of Victory elementary school, Holy Cross high school, and Loyola University, receiving a BA in 1981, majoring in English, and minoring in Philosophy.In 1984 Dan earned an MA in Professional Writing and Publish-ing from Emerson College, Boston. In 1996 he earned a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition from Purdue Univ. In 2013 he earned an MA in Theology from St. Mary's Univ., San Antonio. Dan has taught writing at Emerson College, the Univ. of Lowell, Purdue Univ., Calumet, St. Edward’s Univ., and Austin Community College.Dan worked as an editorial intern at Houghton Mifflin book publisher, a technical editor for Space Systems/Loral aero-space company, a market researcher for Apple Computer, a technical writer for IBM, and a training manager for Dell.Dan received “a holy two-by-four” in late 2001, and returned to his Catholic roots. He entered diaconal formation in 2005 and worked as a hospice chaplain from 2006-12. He received the Sacrament of Holy Orders in 2010 and was ordained a Permanent Deacon in the Catholic faith.
